Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ryobi CS30, screw caps, adjustment screws

Question
I have a fairly new Ryobi CS30 string trimmer. It starts but will not run without the choke even after several minutes. Air filter is clean, no plug fouling or exhaust restriction. I owned and maintained a Stihl trimmer for years and this Ryobi runs like the jets are set far too lean. How do you adjust the jets on the Ryobi. They have some sort of cap over the adjustment screws.

Thanks for your help.

Answer
The carb likely has some tamper resistant mixture screw caps on it,
which normally can be pulled out, or the limiting ears trimmed off.

If the trimmer ran fine new last year, then the carb is likely partially clogged with varnish, and a cleaning would cure it, adjusting out problems is never a good fix.  If it ran like this brand new, then you would have likely taken it back.  I agree that
the new stuff is set too lean and in the old days just richening up the carb took care of things.

If you can see the brand and model carb it is, I can give you more specifics,
thanks.
