Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): convert into 4 wheel drive, john deere tractor, time chris

i am trying to turn an older john deere tractor into 4 wheel drive. is there a kit maybe, or how would i go about doing it? i figured since it is belt driven i could just mount a rear end from another to the front, but the problem of working the transmission of the fron arises. if u could help me at all, or just tell me ima dumbass and not to do it, either would be fine. haha thank you for your time.           Chris

Hi Chris,

Why do you want to convert the J Deere into a 4 wheel drive?  Anyways,

I am not familiar with there being a kit.   

Generally speaking what you are trying to do is .... really difficult.

J. Deere would probably tell you that they don't recommend

any major changes to their engineering of their products.  I would have to agree.
