Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Auger turns, but blades dont, shear bolts, shear pins

Question
Hi,
I have a yardworks model 60-3754-4 30 inch 10.5 hp. snowblower. Today the chute was full of snow and would not shoot. I dislodged all the snow and now the auger turns freely, however the blades now do not turn. Actually they all turn freely when you push them and all at the same time, so the individual shear pins are not broke, but they dont' turn not when the auger throttle is engaged. Any advice

Answer
Hello Pat:

Is there an MTD Model Number on this Unit? I was Not Able to Locate this Model Number for USA or Canada Models. From your Description it Sounds like the Drive Shaft Sprial Pins have Sheared or the Drive is Not Engaging Correctly and Full Power is Not being Transfered from the Engine Pulley to the Auger Gear Box. Some of these Units have 2 Sprial Pins that will Shear if the Auger or Fan/Impeller Shear Bolts Fail to Shear. Make Sure the Inside of the Pulley is Not Spinning on the Shaft Instead of Turning the Shafr Correctly. Send me the All the Numbers Off the Unit, Please. With these, Hopefully I can Locate the Proper Manuals and Better Assist you. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
