Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): converting to pull start, recoil starter, correct part numbers

hey john, do you know if anyone makes a conversion kit to go from a key start to pull start on a 12 hp IC b&s lawn mower motor? the motor is approx. 10 years old but runs good. let me know if more info is needed. thanks...eddie

I have Never Heard of a Conversion Kit. However, you can Purchase the Parts Required to Add the Recoil Starter to this Engine. If the Flywheel has the Mounting Holes for the Starter Cup, then you will Not Require a New Flywheel. If Not, then you will Need a Flywheel, Starter Cup, and a Complete Recoil Starter Assembly (sometimes this is a Complete Blower Housing (Metal Engine Cover). Your Local Small Engine Service Center should be Able to Assist you in Locating the Recoil Starter Parts Required or you can Use the Catalog at this Site Addy; http://faqs.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/faqs.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1487 and Select the Blue "Replacement Engine Catalog" and Use this Catalog to Locate a 12 HP Engine that has the Recoil Starter that will Bolt to your Engine. Once you have the Correct Part Numbers, then your Local Small Engine Service Center can Assist you in Purchasing these Parts or you can Purchase them Online from Outdoor Distributors @ 1-877-707-2787.
