Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Transmission Problem, shift keys, power train

Question
I have a John Deere RX75 riding mower.  It has been gradually been getting more difficult to get it into reverse. Now it takes a minute or two of going back and forth before it will go into reverse. Sometimes it gets easier as the mower warms up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hello Rick:

This Problem is Usually caused by 1 of the Following: 1- The Shifter Linkage is Binding or Bent and Requires Lubricating and Straightening. 2- The Shift Keys are Worn and Require Replacing. You have to Remove the Transaxle from the Mower and Remove the Top Half of the Transaxle Housing and Disassemble Part of the Transaxle to Replace the Shift Keys. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers (RX75) and Click Find. Then Select your Model from the Search Results Area. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. Select the Power Train, Steering and Brakes File. Now Select the Transaxle Sub File. The Shift Keys are #16 in this Breakdown. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
