Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): lt133 ignition, safety switches, kohler engine

my jd lt133 has no spark. Should the coil be getting 12vdc. I tried putting 12vdc to the coil directly from the battery. No spark. thanks jim

If I'm correct this unit has a 13 hp Kohler engine.  Putting 12 V to the coil could very likely have shorted out the diodes in the system.  If the engine will turn over innuendo spark it could be on the mower side.  Check the safety switches on your tractor.   All need to be operating and not bypassed.  If all are operating properly then I would start with new coils or a trigger ring. you could take it to a Kohler dealer and have them inspect the coils and ignition system.  The battery needs to be in the system for it to operate porperly.  Don't jump this engine.
