Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&S Model 10A902, fuel tank

Question
My mower won't start.  I'm not getting any spark when I pull the starter with the plug removed and laid against the block.  Any suggestions?

Answer
Sometimes the engine shut-off cable stretches allowing you to pull the string but not opening the shut-off switch enough to preventing spark.

To check the ignition coil, you can remove the fuel tank and top engine shroud to access the coil.  Dis-connect the small wire connected to the ignition coil.  Put the shroud back on and then re-check for spark.  If you have spark, then the coil is good.

Let me know if this helps.
