Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ariens Sierra mower 1044H, select shop, ariens

QUESTION: I have a used Ariens Sierra mower 1044H that has a switch on the dash that I would like to find out what it is for.  It is a rocker switch on the far right side of the dash that has a picture of the mower with an arrow pointint in both directions (like forward and backwards).  It has three positions on the switch and a light on the top section of the rocker.  This switch is spring loaded and doesn't stay in the top position, it goes back to the center.  I think that it may be for a cruise control but it doesn't work if it is.  What should I check to fix it if it is a cruise switch?

Thanks for the Model Numbers. According to the Electrical Schematic for this Mower, you have a Start Light, Low Battery Light and a PTO Light. It Sounds like the Light you are Asking About is the Low Battery Light. The Cruise Control Does Not have a Light. You can View a Breakdown of the Mower at this Site Addy; http://www.jackssmallengines.net/parts.asp and Select Shop Online Parts Look Up. The Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM (Ariens) and Enter the Model Numbers (936017). Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Select the Electrical File.
