Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Engine Stalls, gas vapors, ferris ztr

Question
Own a Ferris ZTR ISZKAV23 W/ Kawasaki FH680V 23hp eng. Runs ok at full throttle but will surge and stall w/i 10 min when blades are engaged. Have changed fuel lines, filter, and cleaned carb. Exhaust has pipes joining each other & connected to muffler that is on rt side of mower. Suspect exhaust leak but cannot find. Is carb fuel lock from excess exhaust heat? Or is problem elswhere?

Answer
Hello Robert:

Check the Gas Tank Cap. Ensure it is Venting the Tank. The 10 min Run Time Usually Indicates the Tank Cap is Not Venting the Tank and a Vacuum is Created in the Tank or the Ign Module is Heating Up and Stops Firing the Plug. It can cause a Surge Before it Stops Firing the Plug. The Exhaust Leak can Also be the Cause by Causing the Gas to Vaporize before it Gets to the Carburetor Bowl and the Gas Vapors are Vented Out the Carburetor Bowl Vent. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
