Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Peerless 700 series, 5 spd Transmission, ransome bobcat, hydro drive

Question
'Evening John. My operator claims he only had 5th gear on the machine (Ransomes Bobcat mower). I opened the box, cleaned everything & can't find any broken pcs. as I expected. The Shifter keys show "slight" "mushrooming" on the ends only. I'm thinking now, I jumped the gun & the problem is in the shifting lever (OEM part attached to the Trans.) What do YOU think?

Answer
Hello Michael:

Yes, you did "Jump the Gun" on this Problem. Usually the Problem you Described is the Shifter Linkage and Not an Internal Transmission Problem. The "Slight Mushrooming" is Common; However, I Suggest you Replace the Keys Since you are Already at them. Call it Preventative Maintenance of the Transmission. BTW; I Service a 72" Ransome Bobcat with the Hydro Drive and the Yard Maintence Personnel that Use it Say it is the Best of All the Mowing Equipment they Use. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
