Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Fuel line attachment, safety provisions, line attachment

Question
I just accomplished putting my 14.5 b&s engine on my Snapper Comet, and everything on it works great. The only problem is, I can't hook up my fuel line to the carburetor because the plastic fuel line adapter that sat on the metal input of the carburetor was cracked and now completely missing. This plastic adapter allowed me to hook up the old fuel line just fine, but without it, the metal input is too small to snugly hold the fuel line in place. I'm not sure what this peice is called and after several hours of searching online have been unsuccessful at finding out. What is this peice called and where can I get one? If it's not possible to get one, can I just use a smaller fuel line?

Also, since the fuel line input on the new engine is about 2 inches higher than the old 8hp engine, is it going to be necessary to raise the height of the old gas tank to create more pressure on the line or will that make a difference?

Any info you can give me would be fantastic!

Thanks,

Andrew

ps. i read your instructions about bypassing safety provisions, and my mower's so old, it doesn't have any that i'm aware of! ;)

Answer
Hello Andrew:

I Would Use a Smaller Line First. Using a Smaller Line Usually will Not Effect the Engine Operation. If it Does, then Remove the Carburetor and Clean it. Allow it to Dry Completely, Using Heat Shrink Wire Coating for Electrical Connections; Build Up the Inlet Port Nipple to the Size Required. Cut a Section the Length of the Nipple. Place the Seat Shrink Over the Nipple. Then Heat it with a Lighter and the Heat Shrink will Shrink to Tighten on the Nipple. Repeat this Process Until you have the Nipple the Size Required. The Shrink Wrap is Not Effected by the Gas. If the Gas Tank Outlet is Above the Carburetor Bowl, then the Gas Tank Does Not have to be Raised. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
