Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Engine quit, huskee garden tractor, right cylinder

Question
This problem is with a Huskee garden tractor with a BS 18.5 hp engine -Model 42A707, Type 2238E1, Code 9709155B.  After mowing for about 1 1/2 hrs the engine started losing power. After pausing a few secs it would speed up and be OK for a minute or two and then lose power again.  After 3 or 4 times it finally quit and then would not start again.  Left it sit overnight and tried again to start, but wouldn't.  I pulled the plugs and found that I was getting no fuel in the right cylinder.  The left one was getting fuel.  Looked in the plug hole and could see a valve, I think intake valve, was opening and closing.  Pulled air cleaner and could see fuel spraying at bottom of carb, but still none going into the right cylinder.  HELP!   Thanks much. - Gene

Answer
Hello Gene:

Check the Compression on the Dead Cylinder. There May be a Stuck Valve, Dropped Valve Seat or the Connecting Rod May be Broken. Check the Intake Gasket at the Cylinder Intake. Is is Sucking Air? You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model and Type Numbers. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Engine you Wish to View. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.
