Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): motor swap, quality engine, radical difference

Question
I have a blown B&S 18 hp intek plus 31h777 0202e1 I found a B&S 18.5 hp 31p777 0602c2 will they swap out and exactly what is the difference between the two models and which is the best motor for durability and reliability thanks and I hope I do not make the list on your myspace account

Answer
You won't Make the list Jay, but, you're gonna have to do a little homework.

First off, they both are the same engine.  The "0202e"  and  "0602c2" are trim numbers.  The difference could be nothing more than 1 is red and the other is black.

On the other hand...., one could be a pull start and the other electric start.  It could be one has a 1.5" crank, the other a 25mm crank.  That would be a radical difference.

Now the "homework".  Go to this sight and check some part numbers.  The parts you need to check are the starter, the crankshaft, the throttle control panel, and carb (here you are only looking to see if they both have a fuel-shutof solenoid).

Make a list, right down the part numbers  for each engine, and compare.  If all  are the same the swap will be easy.  If the crank and starter are different you will have a hard time.

FYI..... There are not any, how did you put it, "reliable" Intek engines.  They are litterally the lowest quality engine sold in the USA.   That's why you can buy a $1,099.00 riding mower with 25HP V-TWIN ENGINE.
