Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ariens Emperor/Tecumseh V60 (6HP), clutch disk, boat anchor

Question
John indicated I would have no trouble finding a replacement engine...not so. This engine has a short (1 5/8" approx) keyed shaft with a RH thread at the end. The
last 3/4" or so of the shaft is threaded. A pulley goes on first, then the clutch (disk) plate is screwed on. The engine spec. is 700214 which no one seems to have in their book. I was told that Snapper used (and still uses) the same disc arrangement and I wonder if they used the same engine. The mower is 70's vintage. Any further ideas? Thanks. Frank

Answer
As usual John is "smoking crack".

This crank will only be availanle through Ariens.  If you need a new engine you will have to buy an engine that is the same model as yours.  You will then have to buy a crank from Ariens and install it in the new motor.

Sounds like "The Emperor" is a boat anchor.
