Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman not moving, woodruff key, input shaft

Question
John, I just got done changing the oil and air filter on my Craftsman 19.5 hp, turbo twin cylinder tractor (Model number 917.270911).  When I started it up and put it into gear, it would not move forward or backwards.  I checked the main belt, but it looks tight and in place.  Anything else I should be checking?

Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hello Chris:

By Main Belt; Do you Mean the Ground Drive Belt (the Upper Belt) or the Blade Drive Belt (the Lower Belt) on the Engine Pulley? If the Belt is Turning the Transaxle Pulley, then Watch the Transaxle Input Shaft at the Center of the Pulley. If it Doesn't Turn with the Pulley, then the Woodruff Key May be Sheared. If the Woodruff Key is Good then an Internal Problem is Next. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Addy, http://www3.sears.com/ and Enter the Model Numbers in the Search Area at the Upper Left. Then Visually Verify the Mower and Click Continue. From this Page you can View a Breakdown or IPL. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let Me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck

John
