Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): McCulloch 3516 chainsaw does not pump oil, merry christmas and happy new year, worm gear

Question
I have the MAC 3516 Chainsaw. It stopped pumping bar oil.  A new oil pump was put on, oil forced through the tubing to remove all air bubbles.  There is a spring on the crankshaft that applies pressure to the drive gear on the crankshaft.  The spring appears to be doing its job but the oil pump drive gear seems to turn freely.  I stretched the spring a little to apply more pressure.  Should the drive gear turn easily on the crankshaft.  If so, I'm I missing something?

Answer
 Hello Frank:

The Worm Gear is a Snug Fit. It Should Not Turn Freely on the Shaft. It should take a Slight Tapping with a Hammer and Flat Punch to Slide the Worm Gear On and Off the Shaft. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks. Be Safe.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
