Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Leaf blower, plug gap, spark arrestor

Question
Hi John

I checked the spark at the plug and saw a spark between the gap. I put a new plug in today and it started. I went to adjust the choke because smoke was coming from the muffler and it stopped running. After trying to start it again for about a few minutes, I took the plug out and it was fouled with black gas.

I cleaned the exhaust port; removed the cover on the muffler, it had no spark arrestor screen. Thanks again for your help.

Thanks for your quick reply. What is the easiest way to check to see if the plug is firing.

-----Question-----
I have a sears leaf blower about 2 yr,s old, model # 358.797342 that I can not start. It worked fine a few weeks ago but will not start now no matter what I do. Once in a while it will attempt to start for a few seconds after a dozen pulls then nothing. When I remove the plug It is wet with gas. I also removed the filter just to see if that was the problem. Thanks for any advice you can give me.
