Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): centrifugal clutch replacement, clutch replacement, centrifugal clutch

Question
Hi John,
I have a 32cc ryobi weedeater that I have mounted on a skateboard.  The clutch works OK but it takes a while to accelerate and I cant go uphill.  Is it possible to put a stronger clutch on, or is this just not an option.  Second my carb is leaking gas out of the intake, so my assumption is that I should clean it out.  Is it safe to spray throttle body cleaner in the carb or will this eat the gaskets?  I also plan on soaking it in gas overnight.  Think it will help?

Answer
 Hello Tommy:

The Clutches are the Same for the Trimmer Engines. They are Designed to Engage at a Certain RPM. Is this a New Clutch? When Going Up Hill, Does the Clutch Slip? If Yes, then the Clutch Drum/Bell May be Worn Out. Usually the Problem with the Clutch is it Doesn't Disengage. Spray Cleaners Just Cause the varnish Inside the carburetor to Gum Up the Passages Inside the Carburetor and I Don't Use them or Suggest the Use of them. Soaking in Gas Isn't Good Either. The Gas Will Not Remove the Varnish Inside the Carburetor. Soak the Carburetor Overnight in Carburetor Cleaning Solution(I use Gunk) and then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air. Install New Kit. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
