Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): L120 17 hours engine wont catch, sectional index, houts

Question
Hi,

I have a l120 that I got about a year ago.  It has 17 houts on  it.  I just tried to start it up, and the engine will turn over strong but won't catch and start.  I took off the fuel cap just in case it was clogged ( i heard that was a problem on the l120) and it still won't start.  I looked at the fuel filter and there is fuel in it.

Any ideas?

Seth

Answer
 Hello Seth:

Check the Plug for Spark. If No Spark, then Check the Seat Safety Switch. Unplug the Seat Switch and Jumper the Harness. If there is Spark, then Pour a Small Amount of Gas Into the Carburetor and Start the Engine. Does it Start and Quit? If Yes, then the Remove the Fuel Shutoff Solenoid and Replace it with a Bolt of the Same Diameter and Threads Size and 1/2 to 3/4" Long. Does the Engine Start Now? If Yes the Shutoff Solenoid is Bad. You can View a Breakdown of this Mower at this Addy http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers L120 and Click Find. Then Select the Model in the Search Results Area. Then Select the Sectional Index. From here you can View All Sections of the Mower and Engine. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
