I LIVE IN BERKHIRE COUNTY MASSACHUSETTS AND MOWER IS KEPT INSIDE A GARAGE WITH DIRT FLOOR. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE NEW THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME

Answer
 Hello Mike:

You can View a Breakdown of this Engine At this Addy http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Click on the B. Then Select Briggs and Stratton. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Scroll Down and Select File # 12. Then Scroll Down and Select Folder # 12H800. This will Download a Breakdown/IPL for you to View Online. Disconnect the Coil Shutoff Wire at the Coil. If the Spark Plug Still Doesn't Fire, then the Coil is Bad. The Windings in a Coil will React to Temperature and Moisture Changes. Some will Get Hot and Stop the Plug from Firing and Others will Not Fire in Colder Temperatures. If the Spark Plug Fires, then there is a Bad Wire or the Engine Shutoff Switch or Key Switch is Bad. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
