Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): LT2000 Craftsman, crankcase oil, code numbers

Question
My mower last week started sputtering badly so I stopped using it. I had noticed when it started that it was blowing black smoke out the front of it. I now noticed that it is spitting gas out the front in what looks to be the Muffler (based on the picture in the manual). The pipe out of the top of it also sasys 'Gasket Kohler'. When I start the mower it just shoots out. And then it leaks while running (though I only let it run for about 10 seconds.  Any thought on what this would be and how it should be repaired.  I am not the handy type, but this doesn't look to be that easy to repair anyways.  thanks!

Answer
 Hello Fran:

Check the Crankcase Oil for a Gas Smell and for Being Overfilled. From your Description it Sounds like the Carburetor Float Needle is Sticking and the Carburetor needs to be Cleaned and Rebuilt. The Muffler May be Full of Gas Also. Send me the Make, Model, Type and Code Numbers Off of the Engine, Please. With these Numbers I can Locate a Breakdown of the Engine and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
