Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): gas leakage, gas vapors, engine crankcase

Question
I purcahsed a 'troy bilt 21'' (front wheel drive)self propelled mower.  The engine size is a 6.75hp b/s, model number d09102ac.  After about six months in use, I now have a major gas leak problem -it appears to be coming from the carborater/air filter[?] area.  After removing the facing from the filter on the right side, the filter was saturated with gasoline.  I was able to start the engine after replacing the filter...-having to pull on the starter cord four or five times (when it normally take me no more than two pulls from a cold start).  It was as if it was flooded.  The throttle control is automatic, after starting. please assist and thanks in advance

Answer
 Hello Lee:

I Require the Model Numbers Off of the Engine, Please. However, it Sounds Like the Carburator Float Needle is Not Seating Properly. Check the Engine Oil for a Gas Smell to it. If the Oil Smells Like Gas, then Remove the Oil and Allow the Engine Crankcase to Breath for 24 hrs. This Allows the Gas Vapors to Clear the Crankcase. Clean and Rebuild the Carburator and Refill the Engine With Oil. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
