Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Poulan Riding Mower, v belt, model numbers

Sir, I have a problem with  my mower.I have  17 H.P. , 42" deck Poulan mower.  I have changed the mower "V" belt as instructed but I am still not able to engage the mower. The pulleys  spin freely. Is it a problem with my cable?

 Have Someone Engage the Blades while you Look at the Engagement Cable Function. If you can, Send me the Model Numbers Off of the Mower, Please. With these I can see a Diagram of the Mower and Better Assist you. Thanks.
