Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): coleman powermate generator, coleman powermate generator, coleman generator

Question
hello john,
my neighbor has a 9hp b&s vangaurd on a coleman generator that will not start. I found a very dirty carb. & gas in the oil. I cleaned the carb.& changed the oil and it runs fine but will not shut off. I found the wire from the on/off switch to the coil disconnected, but when I reattatched the wire it now has no spark.
the switch checks out fine and the wires appear ok. could it be the coil or a wire improperly grounded? it will run with the coil wire disconnected, but you have to pull the coil wire to shut it off.
                 thanks for your help!

Answer
 Hello Charles:

Install a New Wire from the Coil Connection Point to the Switch. Does this Cure the Problem? There Has to Be a Ground in the Wire if the Switch is Good. Be Sure to Use Wire Ties and Fasten the New Wire Securly so it Isnt Moving Around while the Mower is in Operation. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
