Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): White R10 Ride On - Drive belt fitting, belt pulley, palmerston north

Question
Gidday Michael.
I have a White model R10 10.5hp ride on lawnmower (vintage about 1992) which has a broken drive belt (from motor pulley).I have dismantled and waited 4 weeks to get a new belt and now I have refitted, but I cannot remember the re-assembly process for the other drive belt (from axle). I have fitted the belt which sits uppermost on the frame taking motor drive to a central pulley set. I can't work out how to fit the next belt - which takes up the drive from the central pulley set, down back to the axle pulley. There is a central "keeper" small pulley set on a swivel mount with a spring. I gather that the belt runs around this somehow - but I can't figure it and can't find any assembly or parts diagrams on the web. This small pulley is a normal circular, pulley indicating that the belt sits in noramlly, rather than running on it's "back" as on othe rmodels I have looked at.
Also, there is a mounted shaft on the chassis which protrudes in front of the pulley set on the axle, and I can't decide whether the belt should be routed over or under this. Hope u can assist.

Answer
Hi Mark,

Sorry, I am not familiar with the exact configuration of your belt/pulley set up.  I would just keep trying different ways until you get it.  It will only work one way.  Follow the directional power path at each pulley, starting from the crankshaft.  Sometimes a belt operates with a twist in it.

Good luck and let me know how you make out.
Michael
