Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): wont stay running., float bowl, connecting links

Question
My mower has a 6 hp tecumsa engine with no gas feed or choke. It has a push button primer on side of carbrator to prime. Whenn primming it runs until fuel from primer runs out and quits. will not stay running. Have changed plug, cleaned air filter. usually wil run on and on if you keep pushing the primer button. Starts easily on the first three pulls of the rope start but will not stay running long. What should i do ?

Answer
This is the most common problem.  You can try removing the float bowl nut located on the bottom of the carburetor and draining the fuel bowl.

If that does not fix it you will need to remove, dis-asseble and clean the carb with compressed and carb cleaner.  It's not a difficult job, just pay attention to the carb connecting links, take a digital picture or something.

Let me know what you find.
