Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawnmower Blade Control, blade control, couple minutes

Question
I have a 21" Snapper self propelled with a 7 HP B&S (P217017BV) that is less than a year old and has developed a problem with the blade control. Everytime I release the handle the engine does not shutdown for a minute or two. I pull the throttle down to slow (the engine can't be shutdown with the throttle) and then release the blade control. The engine does slow down a little more, but continues to run for as long as a couple minutes before shutting down. It did work fine when I first got it last year. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Don,

There is a switch at the end of the cable that runs from the handle.  Check it out and if possible, adjust it to make better contact.  The slowing down only, is due to the blade brake being applied but with the ignition still on, the engine continues to run.

Let me know how you make out.
