Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): weedeater, spark arrester, exhaust port

Question
I have a weed eater that will not stay running long, I've taken apart the carb. and cleaned it and all passages are clear want could it be?
It's a homelite.

Answer
Hi Shirley,

2 cycle trimmer engines are very difficult to repair but I would check:  For good spark at the spark plug, after it quits.  Squirt some fuel into the carb, try starting it and see it that helps, which would indicate a fuel flow problem.  The carb may need rebuilding or the in-tank filter may be clogged.  Check the spark arrester screen, which is between the muffler and the exhaust port.

Let me know how you make out.
Good Luck,
Michael
