Snowmobile Repair: I have a 2000 600 xc dulex..., comet clutch, denniskirk

Question
I have a 2000 600 xc dulex and it is very slow off the start I was wondering what I would have to do to make it fast off the start and I was wondering what kind of clutching kit that I could get to make it really fast and if I did get the clutching kit would it change the sound of my snowmobile.

Thanks Tim

Answer
Hello Tim,

Sorry if you contacted me a long time ago. The questions from Allexperts haven't been sent to my email for some reason. Most racers use a Comet clutch. The thing with them is, they have to be tuned for your machine. But they make a huge difference in performance. Of course, they are rather expensive. http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp;jsessionid=XSMNCUTJKPO...  .  The Comet clutch can be hard to tune, not to mention install. Your best bet would probably be a kit, as you mentioned. The best kit I can think of that would work well with a Polaris is one form EPI. Here it is: http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=380620&store=Mai...  .  This kit includes the Helix, and spring for both the primary clutch and secondary. I don't think you will hear a change in your snowmobiles sound, except maybe the higher RPM's needed to engage the clutch. Hope this helps you. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck with the sled! --Arcticatman
