Steering Column Repair: 2000 Dodge Durango Column Will Not Lock, durango 4x4, dodge durango

Recently Had the lower intermediate steering shaft replaced on my 2000 Durango 4X4 with tilt. Now the column will not lock with key removed.All other functions are working.
What could cause this and is it of ANY safety concern if this does not lock.

Hi John:

Double check you column.  That design only locks in the 6:00 position (steering wheel upside down).  There is only one locking slot on the upper shaft and changing the lower shaft would not have affected this function.  It's not uncommon for owners to remember incorrectly with so many vehicle designs locking differently.
Regarding any safety concerns. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
