I have a 1991 chevy k1500 pick up. my steering column is broken so I
picked up a steering column from a 1995 pick up.will it work?

Sorry about your column.  The short answer is 'no'.  They are very different.
What actually is wrong with it?  Most often, it can be repaired fairly inexpensively.
We have recently uploaded some videos on our company website to give you first hand viewing of how to remove, disassemble, and reassemble the column you are talking about (if it's tilt). They are broken down into step by step 2-3 minute detailed videos with instructions. Although the videos are for a Chevrolet truck, the column is very similar to yours.
