ANSWER: Hi Paul:
Welcome to the world of auto mechanics.  Oh, and since you were the last one to touch it, it's all your fault and yo have to pay for the problems here on out (at least that's what the customers tell the shops when stuff like this happens to them).

When you try to start it, if the security light is blinking, the security system has locked you out.  Here's the trick to relearning the security system and hopefully getting your car back on the road tonight!  Patience is rewarded here, just make sure you have  fully charged battery.

Here's how to do it without a scan tool.  It takes 3o minutes and patience to do it right

30 Minute Learn Procedure
Tools Required: None
1.   Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2.   Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON (vehicle will not start).
3.   Observe the SECURITY telltale; it should be flashing.  If it is not flashing, then you need  a scan tool to repair this.  If it is flashing…proceed.
4.   After approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn ON for 5 seconds and then OFF.
5.   Once to turns OFF, Turn the ignition cylinder to OFF, and wait 7-10 seconds .
Then:  Repeat steps 1 through 5, 2 more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes
6.   After the 3rd time you turn off the ignition, wait 7-10 seconds and then start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password and should remain running.

Keep me posted
Doug

QUESTION: Hi Doug,

Thanks - I have a "ScanGuage" in my truck that I can use to clear error codes - is there a method I could use with that ?

Cheers
Paul

ANSWER: Sorry Paul, you need a tech 2 scanner to write the code and that; a 10 minute process or you can do it the way I described.  It's not an error code, it's a passlock lockout

QUESTION: Hi Doug,

No go on the learning method for the passcode - the security light does not flash when returned to the 'on' position - it stays lighted !!!  Any other options - I will see if I can hire a tech 2 scanner.

Answer
Oh Paul:
I'm so sorry it didn't work.  with it not flashing, there is something missing.  Check your fuses (with a test light).  There is no specific fuse for the security system, so make sure all the 'power on' fuses are good on both sides.
That's about all I've got.  I hope you find a bad one & it starts right up for you.  Otherwise, the Tech II is the right way to go

Let me know the resolution (please)
Doug
