what if you install a new steering wheel column,what would have to be done if the car doesn't start by turning the key.i installed it my self,after someone tried to steal my car and replaced the sterring wheel column.what do i do now?

immobilizer Hi Fred:
My guess is that you have gray keys and an immobilizer on your vehicle.  It's the little black box pictured here.  It is programmed to your keys and your car's computer.  You will need to replace it with a new one (a used one cannot be reprogrammed) and then reprogrammed by a dealer (which means towing it there).

There is no way around this unless you know someone with a DRB III scan tool and are friendly enough with a dealer to give you the codes.
