Steering Column Repair: 1989firebird transamgta, tilt steering, rack gear

Question
my tilt steering has been busted and loose for a while.well i was driving down the  road and when it turned at a light, something busted inside the column.the key will turn all the way around but i will not turn the car on.i am going to take it apart but am concerned on what tools and parts ill need.

Answer
Hi Jason:
The bolts that hold the tilt housing to the column tube finally came out.  The reason it will not start anymore is because the rack gear is either broken or bent too badly to engage the rods.
