Subaru Repair: AT Temp warning light-2000 Subaru Outback, subaru outback, dear frank

Dear Frank,
This is second time this has happened. Run about 6 miles down normal road and stop at intersection, and the 2000 Subaru Outback (auto 2.5) starts violent hard shift changes and the AT Temp warning light comes on.
Have checked the AT fluid level and found ok. Any suggestions?

when the AT temp light comes on it means that the transmission computer has detected a problem. There should be a code stored in the transmission computer, the same way the check engine light works with the engine computer. You will need to have it scanned to find out what is causing the problem. good luck
