Steering Column Repair: repair broken off ignition lock, jeep cherokee, lock cylinder

Question
Hell:   I have a 1998 jeep Cherokee which was stolen it has been returned with a broken off ignition lock.  the whole ignition has been broken off and snapped the cylinder that holds it in place.   do i have to replace the complete steering column or can i buy the parts separately (lock & small cylinder that holds it? )

Answer
Hi Len:
The part you are referring to is the upper lock housing cover and lock cylinder.  You will need some special tools to replace these parts, but it is certainly easier (we think) and usually cheaper than replacing the entire column.
We have recently uploaded some videos on our website to give you first hand viewing of how to remove, disassemble, and reassemble the parts you are talking about.

I hope these videos help you.  If not, please contact me again for more information.
Lastly, if you need parts to repair this column simply fill out an order form on our "Contact Us / Order Parts" page.  We will get back in touch with you personally to help you with your needs and price out the parts for you.

Good luck
