Subaru Repair: air conditioning and cruise control, r 134a, subaru legacy

Question
I have a 1997 Subaru legacy L station wagon.  The air conditioning does not seem to work.  The fan blows out air but it is not cold air.  When we had the 60,000 mile service we asked about refilling the freon but they said that wasn't used any more?  Any idea what the problem could be?  Also the cruise control does not work any more.  The cruise light come on but you can't set the speed.  Thanks for your time.

Answer
For the A/C part of your question, it should have R-134a in it from the factory. If not you can take it to a repair shop and they can convert it to r-134a from r-12 (the stuff that cannot be used anymore). As for the cruise control, I would start by checking the fuses. Does the check engine light come on?
