Subaru Repair: 2003 Outback wagon, body molding, outback wagon

Question
When I was the car or it rains water collects in the body molding that runs between the front and back wheel just below the doors.  This only happens to the driver side.  This piece of molding will move up and down slightly at the back wheel.  I have gone under the car and looked at the attachment points and everything seems in order.  Is there some kind of seal on this piece that needs to be replaced, if not what can I do to keep the water out?

Answer
I think the piece of molding you are describing is called a rocker molding. Not sure if water should or shouldn't get there. But, if it is loose, I would fix that. Check with your local Subaru dealers parts department. I think that molding is held on by several push pins. The parts department should be able to give you a picture and tell you where the clips are. Take it back home and compare, and I bet you will find the clips that are missing. If you would like, e-mail me at spwilkins@yahoo.com and I will try to send you a pdf file that shows how the rocker moldings attach.    Z
