Towing Issues: Car Towed from Apartment Complex, rental lease agreement, chattanooga tn

Question
A friend was visiting my apartment in Chattanooga, TN and we needed to take something to a friend.  We moved their car over just a few feet from where my car was parked under the carport.  The car was parked slightly in the grass yet still on the pavement.  Sometime during the night the car was towed without any notice or anything.  This is the first time this had ever happened.  I am a good tenant and have never caused or had any trouble with the management of the apartment complex.  Can a car be towed without any notice or explanation?  Do you ever have any recourse, if so, what?

Answer
Well most apartment - condo complexes have rules - regulations regarding parking vehicles on the property. And parking any of the vehicle on the grass tends to be a BIG NO NO.

Your notice is most likely in the rental - lease agreement. And knowing what I do about Chattanooga (was going to move up there and looked at apartments), there are some very aggressive tow companies up there.

I am betting that the complex has a contract with the tow company to patrol - cruise the lot looking for violations, but then again the management - maintenance people might of seen it and had it towed.

Now I know that there are most likely signs posted throughout the complex and at the entrances, and that does provide the warning which is required.

Now the city of Chattanooga has a department which regulated tow companies and they have a bunch of regulations there and you might start there if you feel you were wronged.

Here is a brief deal on the regulations in Chattanooga.
