Towing Issues: illeagally towed in ct, grandmother lives, dmv web

Question
ok here is the set up, my grandmother lives in a private property multi-home  complex (5 apartments total) with 2 parking spaces designated to her as do all other leases as per the lease agreement(10 total parking spaces, no one is assighned a specific space). she is 89 years old and dosent have a car.

now for the problem, i parked in one of her spots today and walked her to the fair down the street. a couple of hours later we came back and my car was gone. turns out one of the other tenets called the police to have it towed thinking that a random person parked there so they wouldn't have to walk far to the fair. i located my car and had to pay 150.00 to get it back from the tower. after several attempts to contact the owner/landlord of the property, he finally called me back and told me he new nothing about this and never gave permision for any car to be towed. also when i talked to the towing service that took my car they gave me the phone number of the persons who called for the tow and it was not the owner.

so my question is who is at fault here and what are the chances i will get my money back without going to court? is it wrong to say the towing service tresspassed and stole my car? thanks for any advice.

Answer
Well to answer the last question, first the chances without going to court are slim to none. You have a better chance of having it 90 degrees on Christmas than getting a refund without court orders.

Now there is a link from the DMV web site which has some answers for you to look at, and I would love to provide an answer but you will know more answers about what happened than my guesses.

Now it sounds like the person who authorized the tow, did so illegally but then again I could be wrong. As a general rule, the property owner, their designated agents or managers have those rights, but not just the general public, and that really applies in "SHARED PARKING LOTS"

Hope this helps
