Towing Issues: towed vehicle in the wrong parking spot, milk money, towing company

Question
Hello, my name is Emma and on Nov.7,2009 I was parked in the wrong parking space for no more then 2 hrs and when i got ready to leave with my kids only to find out that my vehicle was towed...so I immediately contact the management and they stated that it is on my lease that I was supposed to park at my assigned parking, but here's the thing I have been parked in the parking space where my vehicle was towed from for 6-9 months of residing there. indeed there was a new residents just above me who was recently assigned that parking space, however there was no warning sign whatsoever as to me moving my vehicle even the neighbor knew the car belonged to me so i asked the manager if they were accommodating the new residents with closer parking and she said no its in my contract that we are suppose to park in our designated parking spots.coincidently the new resident gets that parking spot and I get the one closer to the trash 6 spots further. favoritism? I would think. my question is so with out a warning sign they can still call the towing company to take my vehicle??? please help me understand it was close to thanksgiving and they took away from my kids milk money, diapers and food for the week. I explained to them but it seems like management is in on some kind of predatory towing scheme...please help me in anyway, whatever they are into it's not cool taking away from needy families like myself it cost me 260.00 bucks in cash and they did not have the courtesy to leave any kind of warning. your help is much appreciated. keep up the good work and God Bless you for doing this. thanks in advance.

Answer
If the vehicle was not parked in an authorized spot then yes they can have it towed. Despite the fact that it may not be correct. If your lease or their policy does not state that they will post a warning then they do not have to. As for the predatory towing issue, I don't know what state you are in but you can google predatory towing or contact your state attorney generals office.
