Towing Issues: unregistered car towed, silver spring maryland, small claims court

Hello Richard,

Here is the situation. I was traveling for a month and during this period my plates expired. Once I got back home I paid online the re-registration fee. This happen on the evening of Sunday 7-jun. During the night (~3am) a towing company took the car from the parking lot (I'm renting an apartment in a complex in Silver Spring, Maryland).

Technically, when they took the car the plates were expired but I had already the online payment confirmation.

Is there any chance I can recover the towing fee?

Well its hard to say if you can win, since the "actual physical" plate was expired and if I read the question right you renewed it after it had already expired...

If you were to go to Small Claims Court you might not win, based on "physical evidence" on the vehicle...

I guess the online payment info was still in the house and nothing was in the car, visible to maybe prevent the towing?
