Towing Issues: Trailer brake controller, trailer brake controller, rv dealer

Question
I have a 2005 F150 with tow package, it has the large round connencton by the reciever I believe 7 Pin.
Looking at buying a Brake controller. I heard there are some models that just pug in by the fire wall.Tekonsha PRIMUS is the one i was looking at. called local rv dealer told me $70 for install not sure what has to be done,
Q: do i have a plug in style or does it need to be wired?

I have found several sites that offer an adapter for brake controllers for the Pre-wired F-150 of your year.  This should make installation pretty easy, but even if it just plugs in, they sometimes still have to take apart some sections of the dash, and mount the controller,  It can take an hour, and $70 is about what that costs at most places.  Also, a lot of places have a minimum one hour charge.

So this sounds about right.

You can probably wire it yourself and mount the controller if you have even very modest skills.
