Toyota Repair: 1987 Toyota Celica wont start, toyota celica, gunk

Question
I recently got a 1987 Celica ST with a 3SFE engine from a friend of mine. The car has not been run for about 6 years and has been sitting that entire time. When i try to turn it on the engine will crank but it will not start. I sprayed some start spray dirctly in the air intake line and the engine started until i stopped spraying. So i know that all the spark plugs and other parts of the ignition system work. However, i think it is not getting any fuel because it wouldn't start unless some was sprayed directly into the engine like i said. After having sat so long could the fuel lines, the fuel pump, or the the filter have gotten clogged or something? What do i need to do to get it running? Thanks!

Answer
It does sound like a fuel problem, after six years any fuel that was left in the tank or filter or lines will turn into unburnable gunk. I would recommend completely draining any remaining fuel out, replace the fuel filter and flush the lines, it's possible that the fuel pump needs to be replaced.
