Toyota Repair: 83 toyota 4X4 high idle speed, 22r engine, toyota 4x4

my 83 toyota 4X4 22r engine races at a high rpm when started--i have tried adjusting the idle speed to no avail. it acts like the throttle doesn't want to return all the way home--it doesnt reach the idle stop screw--looks maybe like a choke problem but cannot isolate it--can you help--thanks-john b.

Many problems with carburetors stem from bad choke coils or switches. The problem you're experiencing could be a result of a bad choke coil or return spring. If that carb has never been rebuilt, it's a good idea to replace both accessories.
