Toyota Repair: headlights wont turn on, toyota corolla, salvage yard

Question
My daughter has an 89 Toyota Corolla sedan. Several months ago she tried to turn off the headlights and they wouldn't turn so she had to force the lever to get them off. Upon returning to the car the lights would not go on and the lever was unable to stay in the on position. The lights go on if the lever if forcefully held in the on position. Is it the switch that needs replacing? Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your help.

Answer
Yes the switch is the problem, the steering whell has to be pulled off to replace the switch, I would recommend just getting the complete combination switch from a local salvage yard or online(ebay), there are plenty of them, doing so will save a lot of money since the ones from the dealer are very expensive but that's up to you.
