Toyota Repair: 07 Prius, theft deterrent system, toyota logo

Just bought a new Prius.  Trying to activiat the theft deterrent system per the manual.  I have opened all windows, locked the car with the keyless entry. I wait 30 seconds and the theft deterrent light blinks continually.  I open a door and nothing happens.  The manual states the horn should sound and lights flash, nothing happens.  Called my Toyota dealer, they said I must have done something to deactivate it and they want me to schedule an appointment.  It has been this way since day one.  Any suggestions how to activate??

When you say you"open the door and nothing happens" how are you opening the door, do you use the remote or do you reach through an open window to open it from the inside by unlocking manually? I need to know if it has the SMART KEY system, look at the back of the remote and see if the toyota logo is chrome or black.
