Toyota Repair: Car Stalling, coolant temperature sensor, engine cranks

Question
QUESTION: I have A 1993 Toyota paseo with 172000 miles. My problem is the engine stalls. I replaced the coil, IAC, dist. cap and rotor, plugs. It runs good at times and then it starts to cut out. when it goes back to idle it stalls and won't crank. After a while it cranks fine. I put a tester on it and got a code of 22. Please help it is driving me nuts
ANSWER: The code 22 is an engine coolant temp sensor malfunction, this is the sensor for the onboard computer not the temp gauge on the dash, although this failure may cause hard starting, the engine cranks but is hard starting, it will not prevent the engine from cranking over so I'm a little unclear as to what exactly is happening, maybe some more infor is needed, does the engine not crank over and not start or does the engine not turn over at all?

QUESTION: I replaced the sensor. But it is still doing the same thing. Could it be the dist.?

Answer
Yes the distributor could be the problem, it may be losing the signal from the generator inside the distributor, in most cases there should be more trouble codes for the signal generator malfunction that's why I did not suspect the distributor but the distributors have been problematic in the past.
