Toyota Repair: ignition key will not remove., release pin, lock cylinder

Question
Cannot get the to go over to the lock postion, so key cannot be removed. This is a 99 4 runner.
Any thoughts?

Answer
The ignition lock cylinder needs to be replaced but unless they key can be put in the "ACC" position the lock release pin can't be depressed to release it from the housing, if you are able to move it to the acc position remove the plastic covers around the steering column and locate the release pin, depress it and the lock will pull out.
If the key absolutely will not move it will be necessary to break the key off and drill most of the old lock cylinder out or to replace the entire lock housing that bolts to the steering column.
