Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Small engine starts and stalls, briggs and stratton, briggs stratton

Question
I have a Briggs & Stratton 4hp model# is 112212-0654. I could not get it started and found old gas in it. The gas was yellowish.  I added acetone to the gas in hopes of removing any gum. The engine did finally start and ran for awhile. Two days later I tried to start it again and it wouldn't run. I tried starting it with starting fluid and it seems like no gas is being taken into the carburator. I checked the pump gasket for tears and there wasn't any. I am not sure what to try next. Any suggestions?

Answer
 Hello Harry:

Yellow Gas!!  Not Good. Not Good at All. Remove and Disassemble the Carburator. Soak it Overnight in Cleaning Solution(Gunk Carburator Cleaner). Then Blow All the Passages Out with Compressed Air. Install New Kit. Cleaning the Carburator with Acetone or Spray Cleaners Only Loosen the Varnish the Gas has Formed. The can Only be Removed by Soaking Overnight. You can View a Breakdown of the Engine and Carburator at this Addy http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Click the B. Then Select Briggs and Stratton. Then Select Dont have Part Numbers. Then Scroll Down to the File #11 and Click. Then Scroll to the Folder # 112200 and Click. Then Scroll to the Folder that has the 112200 Model and Check for the Type Numbers. There are 2 Folders with this Model so Check the Type Numbers of the File Carefully. Then Click on the File. This will Download the Breakdown for you to View Online. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck
